(1)CouchDB is mainly written in Erlang. And it is a concurrent functional programming language which is mainly focuses on the fault tolerance. When we say about the Erlang programming language it is also used for building a massive scalable soft real time system with requirements on high availability.
(2)Some parts of CouchDB is written in C languages.
