What are common difference in between Bitmap and Vector?
Below are the most common difference in between Bitmap and Vector:-

NumberBase of differenceBitmapVector
Made ofWhen we say about the Bitmap images these are also known as Raster images and these are made up of small dots known as pixels. When we say about the Vector images these are made up of lines, fills, and curves.
locationWhen we say about the Bitmap images these knows the color of each and every pixel. When we say about the Vector this will consists of instructions on where to place its components.
Dot and CoordinatesWhen we say about the Bitmap, here pixel of the same color or the different color are placed close to each other so that your eyes perceives them as pictures but not as dots. When we say about the Vector images these are collections of elements such as lines, circle, rectangles and square. Here each of Vector element has its coordinates and we can resized that.
ColorsWhen we say about the colors in Bitmap there are mainly two colors that are black or white. But when complexity is increase it can contain more colors. When we say about the Vectors we use mathematical formulas in describing colors, shapes and their placement.
FormatWhen we say different format in Bitmap this will includes: JPEG, GIF, PNG, XBM, TIFF, PCX and Bitmap fonts. When we say about the Vector format this will incluse EPS, WMF, PICT, PostScript and TrueType. Here last two are created by CAD and GIS applications.
OutputWhen we say about the Bitmap it has simple output, as long as RIP or printer has required memory.Vectors are small files which contain information on Bezier curves which from the drawing.
Range of colorWhen we say about the range of color in Bitmap this images have a wise range of color gradations and less scalable than vector images. When we say about the Vector images it is more scalable than Bitmap images.
SimilarWhen we paints a Bitmap images, it looks similar to dipping brush in paint and painiting images. When any user paints vector images, only the outline of the shape is painted. It is similar to creating an image with different tiles of different shapes and sizes.
EnlargeWhen we say about the Bitmap image and whenever we are trying to enlarging the images without change in pixel count, images looks some blurry. So to enlarge the files increase in pixel count may produce better result comparatively. On the other hand whenever we are trying to enlarge a Vector image mathematical formulas remain the same, scalable to any size.
Suitable forWhen we say abot the Bitmap images these are best suitable for Photo creation and editing of a continous toned image with some soft color. And when we say about the Vector images these are best suitable for creating logos, drawings, illustrations and for technical drawings.
Dimension and resolutionWhen we say about the Bitmap images when we use huge dimension and fair detailed image that will produce a large size of the image. On the other hand vector images are resolution dependent so we can print at any size or resolution.
Number of colorWhen we say about the Bitmap images it is difficult to print Bitmap images by using the limited spot colors. When we say about the Vector images, here we can increase or decrease number of color for printing.
ConversionWhen we say about the conversion of Bitmap to vector it is time consuming which is mainly based on complexity. When we say about the Vector image we can very easily convert vector to Bitmap images.
Program includeWhen we say about the Bitmap program this will include GIMP, Paint Shop, Photo editing and Photoshop. When we say about the Vector program this will include Illustrator, CorelDraw and Inkscape.
ProcessBitmap has high processing speed used from badges to posters. In Vector, data volume depends upon the actual value of the object.
FileA kind of Bitmap file can be easily converted to another. When we say about the Vectors it is difficult to modify or display if not opened in programs which understand vector.
Extension for BitmapWhen we say about the File formats extension (1).tif or .tiff:- Tagged Image File Format (2).jpg or .jpeg:- Joint Photographic Experts Group (3).psd:-Photoshop Document (4).gif:-Graphics Interchange Format (5).png:-Portable Network Graphics When we say about the Vector Image File format below are the different format:- (1).eps:- Encapsulated PostScript (2).ai:-Adobe Illustrator Artwork (3).cdr:-CorelDraw (4).svg:-Scalable Vector Graphics (5).pdf:-Portable Document Format
